Online recruitment refers to the conducting of hiring
processes using online tools. Such recruitment tools may take the form of
online application forms, psychometric tests, job ad posting systems and
applicant tracking systems and applicant management systems. These may exist on
a company's own Internet website, on its own corporate intranet or on a
separate jobsite that can be accessed by logging in. Jobsnet is one such
jobsite.
Recruiting over the web is not just about adopting new and better tools.
Fundamentally it involves a shift in an employer's attitude towards
recruitment. As such, online recruitment does not just provide new technology
to the HR department but results in a reshuffling of the recruitment chain and
cultural change. That is to say, it changes the manner in which responsibility
for hiring decisions is distributed and how those responsible behave.
