1. Tell me about yourself. ( This is the most commonly asked question in an interview )
State your strong point and start selling yourself.
If you have a profile or personal statement at the top of your CV use this as your starting point.
Touch briefly on your own personality. Project a good image of yourself without exaggerating
Keep your answer to one or two minutes. Don’t ramble.
   
2. What do you know about our company?
Research the company’s products, size, reputation, image, missions, problems, management style, people, skills, history and philosophy.
Ask the interviewer tell you about the company, let them define their business in their terms. Be informed and interested.
   
3. Why do you want to work for us?
Don’t talk about what you want; first talk about their needs and how you can make the contribution
You want to be part of an exciting forward-moving company.
   
4. What would you do for us? What can you do for us that someone else can’t?
Relate past experiences that represent success in working for your previous employer.
Talk about your fresh perspective and the relevant experience you can bring to the company.
Highlight your track record of providing creative, workable solutions.
   
5. What do you find the most attractive about this position? Least attractive?
List a couple of attractive factors such as the responsibility the post offers and the opportunity to work with experienced teams that have a reputation for innovation and creativity.

6. Why should we hire you?
Because you can make positive contribution with your knowledge, experience, abilities, and skills
   
7. What do you look for in a job?
An opportunity to use your knowledge, experience, abilities, and skills to perform and be recognized.
   
8. How long would it take you to make a meaningful contribution to our company?
Very quickly – after a couple of weeks getting to know your system and clients and a brief period of adjustment on the learning curve.
Highlight that you’re a quick learner and used to adapting to new situations.
   
9. How long would you stay with us?
As long as we both feel I’m contributing, achieving, growing etc.
   
10. Why are you leaving your present job?
Give positive reasons such as you believe the new job will allow you to show your potential to the fullest.
Avoid negative answers such as work enjoinment or collogues problems.
Give a ‘group’ answer if possible, such as your department was consolidated or eliminated.
   
11. Why haven’t you found a new position before now?
Finding a job is easy but finding the right job is more difficult. (You are being ‘selective’.)
 
   
12. Had you thought of leaving your present position before? If yes, what do you think held you there?
Challenge, but it’s diminishing now.
   
13. What other types of jobs or companies are you considering?
Keep your answer related to this company’s field. You want to sound focused.
   
14. Describe what you feel to be an ideal working environment.
Where you can demonstrate your potential to the fullest and be tested as fairly as possible.
   
15. How would you evaluate your present firm?
A good company which afforded me many fine experiences.
   
16. What do you think of your current boss?
Be as positive as you can and explain working with him/her was a learning experience.
   
17. Can you work under pressure and to deadline?
Yes. Quite simply, it is a way of life in business.
   
18. How have you changed the nature of your job?
Improved it...of course.
   
19. Don’t you feel you might be better off in a smaller/larger company? Different type of company?
Depends on the job – elaborate slightly.
You would like to grow together with the company regardless of the size.
   
20. How do you resolve conflict on a project team?
First discuss issues privately.
   
21. What was the most difficult decision you ever had to make?
Attempt to relate your response to the prospective employment situation.
   
22. You may be overqualified or too experienced for the position we have to offer.
Strong companies need strong people.
